restaurants.ie ("we", "us") is a directory of food businesses across the island of Ireland, operated by S5 Ltd. This policy explains what information we hold and how we use it. We are the data controller for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts.
Information we hold
- Business listings. Facts about food businesses — name, address, phone, website, cuisine and similar details — compiled from publicly available sources — see data sources & attribution for the full list — and from the businesses' own public websites. Where a listing contains contact details that relate to an individual (for example a sole trader's business phone number), we process them in our legitimate interest in maintaining an accurate public business directory.
- Information you give us. If you sign up for updates or contact us, we hold your email address and any message you send.
- Usage data. Basic, aggregated analytics about how the site is used, to help us improve it.
How we use it
To operate and improve the directory, to respond to your enquiries, and — where you have asked us to — to send you updates. We rely on our legitimate interests in running the directory, and on your consent where you have signed up for updates (which you can withdraw at any time).
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We use trusted service providers (such as hosting and email providers) who act as our processors and only handle data on our instructions.
If you run a listed business
You can claim your listing to keep it up to date, ask us to correct it, or ask us to remove it. Contact us at [email protected].
